Hi All

I'm trying to use the canon version of the pocketwizard flex TT5 on my H4d 50.  I seem to be able to trigger a canon flash 580exii when it's mounted on the hotshoe but it won't trigger the TT5 flex or mini.  Has anyone got any experience with this?  It would be great to get them working with the H4d.

Thanks loads for any help / advice.

I have just received this from the manufacturer...

Hi Michael,

The Canon and Nikon ControlTL systems require system specific communications; if you look at the bottom of the FlexTT5’s foot, you’ll notice it has the Canon specific pin configuration. While we are always interested in adding new cameras to our compatibility list, we do not support Hasselblad cameras at this time. While I don’t have any set date or timeline on if or when we will add them to our list, I would keep an eye on our Facebook page for any new product information or firmware releases: https://www.facebook.com/pocketwizards

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info.  I spoke with their UK dealership this morning johnsons-photopia.co.uk and a very friendly chap called Ian talked me through it. It is possible to use the TT5 to trigger the canon580 but it won't take advantage of the  ETTL (fine by me).  The reason it didn't work is the default setting for the TT5 is expecting ETTL info before it can trigger the flash.  I can change this using the pocketwizard software / USB.   I've not done it yet but will confirm it works when I have success.

In the TT1 Mini I need to disable ETTL
In the TT5 I need to un-tick the "Use control TX for RX" (or something similar).

I hope this helps someone.

Cheers

Will

Can you get a 580 to fire on the H4d? I tried this last night and it worked fine.  So..... theoretically the TT1 should work, it was a faf to fit onto the hotshoe, I had to use a bit of force.  Did yours fit ok?

When you fire the H4D do you get an orange blink on the TT1?  I got an orange blink last night but only when it was properly fitted to the hotshoe.

Same problem fitting the TT5 to the H4D. You need to make sure the locking ring as all the way up otherwise it jams.

YES. I get a quick red flash on the light on the TT5 when I shoot on the H4D but it doesn't communicate this to the other TT5...?

Ooops!

or more like Pooooo!

Same problem here.  The settings I'm using are -

TT1 > Configuration 1 > Trigger Mode > Basic Trigger ON

TT5 > Configuration 1 > Channel > Receive > Use ControllTL for Receive Channel OFF
TT5 > Configuration 1 > Misc > Trigger Mode > Basic Trigger ON

Something strange is going on... It should trigger when the learn / test button is clicked but I'm not getting anything.

I'll speak to the tech support chap in the morning.

OK.  I was told the wrong info so please ignore my previous posts.  I spoke with Ian this morning and got it working.  Here's what you need to do.

TT1 > Configuration 1 > Trigger Mode > Basic Trigger ON

TT5 > Configuration 1 > Channel > Receive > Use ControllTL for Receive Channel ON
TT5 > Configuration 1 > Misc > Trigger Mode > Basic Trigger OFF

Once you have updated the units with these settings you need to turn on the TT1 and TT5.  Hold down the learn button on the TT5, it should blink red for several seconds, when it stops blinking red you need to press the learn button on the TT1 several times.  It should now work.

I found that I could only train one TT5 at a time. The others had to be off.

I hope this helps.
