This is a terrific forum. I am very new to the H4D. There are several options when using the self timer. Can someone tell me what the best settings would be for a simple matter of forgetting to bring a cable release? Can the self timer effectively replace using a cable release? Thank you.

Hi Cerett and welcome.

The short answer is yes, assuming you are not trying to capture a decisive moment.

Tip of the day, hit the mirror up button at the front of the camera then fairly quickly hit it again, you will be taken straight to the self timer menu Smiley

I should also mention that you can buy these Chinese radio remotes off ebay for the H cameras, from memory they are about $12 USD, there is a thread here somewhere on the subject.
