Gentlemen
after applying the new firmware r361 and following instructions through Phocus 2.6.2 (just installed prior the firmware update) the camera display showed a "starting up" sign constantly and was not working.
I then detached the power handle for a few seconds then restarted the camera which seems to work fine except the back shows the error "Adapter SW needs to be updated. Please supply external power".
I have no idea what is the "Adapter SW". Error disappears from the back when the camera is in use. The firmware is correctly shown as r361.
Any suggestions?

I haven't done this update yet but I do know that the message you got happens when there is no power supplied over the firewire. Please make sure the firewire provides power and try again, I hope this helps.
